It may sound funny but photos of older children are so important to their memory of childhood.
Don't stop having portraits taken of your children when they are no longer toddlers.  I often hear parents say I wish I had taken professional portraits of my children when they were young.  They are still young - don't miss out on this age - this stage.  In a few years when they are in high school you'll look back and realize how sweet and young they look.  I remember thinking I had missed it when I looked at a portrait of my son when he was 9 years old.  He look so big and I wonder how it had happened so quickly. Today he looks like a little boy in that photo.  He remembers that time in his life. I know this family will cherish this photo of their children at these ages.

Christmas Baby Announcements

I love this soft gray for babies.  Spencer's skin looks so soft and sweet.  This is a cute postcard announcement from his newborn baby session.  The card will be printed on pearl paper for a really warm and sparkly look.

 

 

 

Christmas at the Beach

Nothing like living at the beach.  When it comes to celebrating Christmas we rather like the warm, white ground cover.  Here we call it sand.  And unlike the Northern variety - it actually feels good between your toes.  Ben and Bear are always so much fun to photograph.  Bear was a really good sport reindeer ears and all.
 Mom and Dad selected a 5x5 Trifold card.   It's easy to see why - there are so many adorable photos of this little boy.  Use your imagination.  Both side panels fold into the center to make a 5x5 square card.  When you open the card the message flap is on the right and a photo is on the left.

Playful Christmas Postcard

I love when my clients select playful images.  Family life can be so hectic and crazy.  It's difficult when taking the photos yourself to get casual images of sweet, family fun.

Christmas Cards with Pets

Christmas cards with pets are really fun.  Sharing your family pets with friends and family is a sweet way to give them a little peek into your world.  Most dog and cat lovers would agree, pets are simply furry family members.  Some would say a Christmas photo would not be complete without them.  I love photographing Kona.

A trifold card takes a little imagination to proof.  From left to right - This will be the inside right panel when the card is folded - the back appears in the center and the front cover is on the right.

The family image is on the left and will appear next to the Holiday message when the card opens.  This is the view when both panels are open.

I love, love Beach Photo Christmas Cards

We loved photographing Roxy and family.  Gus is the dog whisperer for high energy dogs - he just does not give up until he gets the shot.  Roxy loves carrots can you imagine that.  Very funny - I've never heard of a dog loving carrots.  Love the rich jewel tones of this card, but it could easily have been taupe with the color of Roxy's coat.  This will be a 5x7 horizontal fold over card.

Christmas Card Mini Sessions

I know you are still eating Halloween candy, but it's time to get serious about Christmas Card photos.  Kyds Children's Boutique at 200 First Street in Beaches Town Center is full of really cute Holiday dresses and outfits and we have our holiday designs ready to go.  Thought you might like to see this really simple, sweet one.  And yes, Leighton is wear a dress and accessories from Kyds.  The image is perfect for a fold over Christmas Card, a postcard or an ornament card.  Christmas card photo sessions are a fun family experience.  Imagine getting dresses up in your festive holiday stuff,  laughing and genuinely smiling with your children while someone else takes your family photos.  No running in and out the photo. Fixing clothes, fixing hair, singing "Wheels On The Bus" and taking photos at the same time.  We'll do all that and when we're done you'll actually want to take your kids out for ice cream.  Call me.  We only have one month of sunsets to work with and as you might have guessed some of your friends are already on the calendar.  40 mph winds have calmed so let's get out on the beach. We have mini sessions and studio sessions available too.

Custom photo cards and invitations for Eagle Scouts

Our studio designs and produces custom photo cards and invitations for all occasions.  This is an announcement with an invitation for Josh's Eagle Scout Court of Honor celebration.  We photographed Josh's senior portraits last month in Indianapolis and his parents had the foresight to have a few images taken of him in his Boy Scout uniform to use for this announcement and invitation combination.  We actually walked around downtown and along the river to see the trail where his project starts.  His Eagle Scout project included video taping additional, more strenuous, exercises that can be done along a fitness trail by using your smart phone and a posted QR code at each station.  What a great idea and really well done.  Way to go Josh!

Photo Christmas Cards

Yahoo ! The Hoag family is ahead of the curve this year.  They have their custom Christmas Cards already ordered.  We'll start up this week with Mini sessions and Christmas Card portrait sessions but this was our first official completed card.  What do you think?  The week after Halloween is when the phone starts to ring from clients who we photographed during 2013 - ready to order their holiday cards.  If you don't have a plan for Christmas cards - give us a call we have lots of fun ideas.

Newborn Nursery Photo Shoot

I absolutely love this newborn nursery session.  What a precious little baby girl and her nursery was soo much fun to photograph in.  Mom and Dad were so creative and fun to work with.  Our studio produced a beautiful baby album from this session - a perfect memory book from her first days of life.  Lily will cherish these tender photos with her parents forever.  I encourage new parents to get in the act.  Make sure they have photos taken with their newborns.  Can you image?  I don't have many photos of me with my Mom and none from when I was a baby.  It may seem silly but it's especially important with child number two or three since siblings will likely be in most of their family photographs in the future.

Josh's Senior Portraits

 

I really enjoyed Photographing Josh's Senior Portraits.  It was great flying to Indianapolis to capture him in his own environment.  When we say portraits on location - we mean it. 

 I also had the opportunity to photograph his Eagle Scout Award Project and him in his explorer uniform.  Senior portraits are so much more interesting when seniors have an opportunity to share their passions.

Hitting the beach for Senior Portraits 2014

Loved sharing our favorite Atlantic Beach locations with Paige and her mom, Lisa.  They were visiting Florida from Maryland and because Paige loves the beach, she knew this was the perfect location for her Senior Portraits.  If you live at the beach why are you settling for staged senior portraits when you can have real sand between your toes.  Check out Paige's Image2Music video link below.  Our studio thank you bonus for "referrals".  Paige's cousin Livi referred our studio so they will both receive an Image2Music from their individual sessions to share with family and friends.  Thanks Livi can't wait for your session this weekend.

Baby portraits on location - Loved this sweet family portrait session centered around newborn baby brother.  What could be more intimate and unique to you than a newborn portrait session in the privacy of your own home?  Tons of great photos and great memories.  Big brothers and sisters are so much more comfortable in their own space.

I think every couple should have an opportunity to share a sweet "getting to know you" session with their wedding photographer.  It's a perfect time to document your tender feelings of love and anticipation and help couples get comfortable in front of the camera. Our studio includes an engagement sessions in all of our wedding packages at no additional charge.  It provides time together to learn about our couples and their camera chemistry - an important thing to know before the wedding day.

I love the images from this sweet couple's engagement session.  Sara and Trey are so romantic and spontaneous, add an incredibly unique location, some crazy wind and voila - one very memorable engagement session.

Taking my own advice

Okay so it's time to make a few changes with a new studio blog.  I thought I'd kick it off with a family you may know.  Living and working a few blocks from the ocean we find ourselves on the beach a few evenings of every week photographing our clients families and children.  Yet we did not have an up-to-date family beach portrait.  So, a few months ago I decided to take my own advice and have an updated family portrait taken with my husband and almost grown children.

I am so glad that we did. We had a fun adventure at the beach and I can now share my family with all the precious clients who have shared their families and stories with us over the years.  Thank you for your support, encouragement and referrals.  You are the inspiration that makes our family business work.
