Ordering Portraits large and small - Image sizing and scale are important considerations when choosing a family portrait

The holidays are over.  You've mailed out your Christmas cards and now it's time to get serious about refreshing images in your home.  Before ordering your family portrait, I would highly recommend a little visual test.  Cut a piece of wrapping paper or brown butcher paper the size you are considering and taping it on the wall.  This is especially helpful if you have a blank wall or you are adding the image to a family wall.  You may know immediately but if not live with it for a few days.  This is a great visual to make sure you do not purchase something too large or too small.  Family portraits are an investment and you do not want to make an investment and realize the portrait in your room looks like a billboard or by the same token a postage stamp.  Ceiling height and available wall space are considerations when it comes to scale.

Bordered Image Block
This is the configuration/ratio of an 11 x 14 equal to 5.5:7. The sides would need to be a solid color, you may select black, chocolate brown, grey or white.  Actually any color you'd like but those make the most sense with this image.

Wrapped Image Block
If you would like the image to wrap around the sides and still keep everyone's feet we can change the ratio to be a little wider and not as tall.
A 4:6 configuration/ratio can be made into an 8" x 12" wrapped block
for a table top on an easel or a 12" x 18" for a small wall display or a 16" x 20" for a larger wall display. This shows the front and there is enough additional image to wrap around the sides 1" on each side.
