Family Beach Portraits before your kids go off to college.

As a visual storyteller, I love the opportunity to tell a family's story.  If you have teenagers you know, heading off to college is such a pivotal time in the life of a family.  A lifetime of memories flood our heads and our hearts at graduation.  If you have never thought of family portraits as an investment . . . just ask this sweet family.   A year after their first daughter headed off to college, this moment in time is still a vivid memory.

When you send your kids off to college, make sure you send them with a framed family portrait.  A reminder of the family who nurtured and loved them is a sweet encouragement when they feel homesick or on a busy week of testing.  

I love capturing the playfulness in a family, the bond between siblings and age differences.  The sibling experience changes when a child leaves home.  

Graduation is traditionally a family gathering time. Family travelling in for graduation, a family reunion, beach vacation, high school or college graduation, hire a professional and have a family portrait taken this summer.  For years to come, you'll be glad you did.

You don't want to miss this precious time. Life is fragile and the window we get to celebrate motherhood with these messy, silly and sometimes stubborn little people is small but it is also tender and sweet and filled with hope for a new day.   

I quietly celebrated a milestone last week, remembering the day 13 years ago that I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  My children at the time were 14 and 3.  I was stunned and devastated and ironically the first thing I thought of doing was having portraits taken of me with my children and family.  For my children, I wanted to make sure I was not an invisible part of their childhood just in case I wasn't blessed with the opportunity to be there to share in their birthday celebrations, skinned knees and first dates.  But God has blessed me with 13 Mother's Day celebrations and I have cherished every one. 

Moms - I guess you might say I've been holding out on you.  I have restrained myself every time a Mom says she doesn't want to be in photographs because she needs to lose 5 lbs or she needs to let her hair grow or get it cut because it's a mess.  I'm quietly sad when I talk to a family that has never taken the time to schedule family portraits.  I believe photographs give clarity to our memories and give us a sense of connectedness.

I love capturing the personality of a child in portraits. As Moms & Dads, we remember our children in a myriad of ways as they grow and change. Halloween at Beaches Town Center

The Beaches Town Center Halloween Parade and Costume Contest is tomorrow morning - don't miss the fun at 200 First Street The road will be closed between Lemon and Orange  for a few hours of fun.  Halloween crafts and activities lots of prizes and candy of course.  Have a professional photo taken of your child and we'll enter them into our Halloween Costume Contest.  Have your friends and family vote and if they receive the most votes you win a Santa on the Beach Mini Session valued at $150.

Photography Art Grids - Triple

I love display grids.  Clients who are looking to create a contemporary "family photo wall" are embracing our Art Grids.  Three dimensional wood panels (1" or 2") They can be ordered from one session or multiple sessions making it possible to start out with two or three and then add on as your child or family grows.  A nine panel Art Grid might start out as 3 12"x12" panels, 6 months to a year later add 3 more and in another year or two add 3 more.  Now you have a large wall area covered with a variety of images that look good together.  If you have three children and are interested in creating a complete Art Grid all at one time, mix up a nine or 12 panel with images of the kids individually and in groups.

Here are 3 versions of a cute Block Storyboard with 3 images one as the base and two mounted on top for an expanded three dimensional look.

 

 

 

Baby Brother Newborn Nursery Session

What could be more natural than newborn nursery photos at home?  Big brothers have enough to contend with when a new baby turns up on the scene.  Better to pose for photos at home in a comfortable and familiar setting.  This little chap took a nap while we photographed his new baby brother and when nap time was over he was ready to get into the act.  I love photographing families in their own personal space.

I know you are still eating Halloween candy, but it's time to get serious about Christmas Card photos.  Kyds Children's Boutique at 200 First Street in Beaches Town Center is full of really cute Holiday dresses and outfits and we have our holiday designs ready to go.  Thought you might like to see this really simple, sweet one.  And yes, Leighton is wear a dress and accessories from Kyds.  The image is perfect for a fold over Christmas Card, a postcard or an ornament card.  Christmas card photo sessions are a fun family experience.  Imagine getting dresses up in your festive holiday stuff,  laughing and genuinely smiling with your children while someone else takes your family photos.  No running in and out the photo. Fixing clothes, fixing hair, singing "Wheels On The Bus" and taking photos at the same time.  We'll do all that and when we're done you'll actually want to take your kids out for ice cream.  Call me.  We only have one month of sunsets to work with and as you might have guessed some of your friends are already on the calendar.  40 mph winds have calmed so let's get out on the beach. We have mini sessions and studio sessions available too.
