Moms - I've been holding out on you.

You don't want to miss this precious time. Life is fragile and the window we get to celebrate motherhood with these messy, silly and sometimes stubborn little people is small but it is also tender and sweet and filled with hope for a new day.   

I quietly celebrated a milestone last week, remembering the day 13 years ago that I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  My children at the time were 14 and 3.  I was stunned and devastated and ironically the first thing I thought of doing was having portraits taken of me with my children and family.  For my children, I wanted to make sure I was not an invisible part of their childhood just in case I wasn't blessed with the opportunity to be there to share in their birthday celebrations, skinned knees and first dates.  But God has blessed me with 13 Mother's Day celebrations and I have cherished every one. 

Moms - I guess you might say I've been holding out on you.  I have restrained myself every time a Mom says she doesn't want to be in photographs because she needs to lose 5 lbs or she needs to let her hair grow or get it cut because it's a mess.  I'm quietly sad when I talk to a family that has never taken the time to schedule family portraits.  I believe photographs give clarity to our memories and give us a sense of connectedness.

Baby's First Year Portraits

I love the 6 - 9 month session, in a Baby's First Year portrait plan.  

Children are so animated and interactive but can't get too far, too fast.  This precious little one is sitting up confidently and such a happy baby.  We were looking to create an image for a wall display to combine with one taken a few years ago of her big sister below.

What is it about kids & bunnies?

What is it about kids & bunnies that makes us all laugh?  I vow each year I'm not going to do this event again and yet when Spring rolls around I can't seem to help myself.

When the phone starts ringing and my clients remind me that our Spring "Live" Bunnies Photo Sessions are so much fun.  For me it's the joy on the kids faces that makes all the hauling and cage cleaning and hay in my hair and in my shoes and in my car worth it.  Not to mention there is something about Spring that beckons bright colors, hydrangeas and baby bunnies. 

This year was especially fun and we met so many sweet new families and of course we have become a tradition for so many families that well I guess I'm in for the long haul.  Don't miss it next year - one week only and yes we have limited sessions available.  I've already taken a few reservations for next year.

The Magic and Wonder of Christmas

 I love being able to offer Christmas Cards from sessions done during the year.  In Florida we can use photos from any season.  The beach is always a hit for Florida Christmas Cards.

Beach Portrait Block

This adorable little beach lover had lots of fun digging in the sand.  Mom chose this sweet image for a block. This is the full from and more of the image wraps around the sides on a 1 inch wooden block.  It's perfect for a wall collage, an art cluster or an easel.

Newborn Baby Girl Announcement

There were so many sweet photos to choose from of baby Kendall it was really fun choosing.  Here are her precious announcements.  I'm excited to see which one she chooses.  This is such a sweet and tender time we love to be able to preserve as moms and it slips into toddler way to quickly.  Newborn portraits are a great way to preserve those so sweet baby days!

 

The Faces of Two - A Childhood Character Study

 

I love capturing the personality of a child in portraits. As Moms & Dads, we remember our children in a myriad of ways as they grow and change. Words like sweet, funny, pensive, determined, mischievous, inquisitive, apprehensive and joyful come to mind.  An annual Character Study is a great way to capture these moments, as that seem to slip away so quickly and are replaced by something new. Bunny & Peep Spring Portraits

As always our Bunnies & Peeps Spring Mini Sessions were a huge hit.  These precious little sessions are so sweet for Spring and Easter portraits and such a cute opportunity for kids to play with our bunnies and peeps in the comfort of their own yard or at a friends.  Moms host the sessions with up to three of their friends and children.

We bring the bunnies & peeps, baskets and carts and camera equipment. 

Can't decide which is cuter the baby's with or without fur.

 

 

I loved this indoor studio session with the cutest little curly head.  It's funny, children come into our studio all year long asking "Can I see your bunnies?"  I guess they think we keep them here at the studio year round.  Sorry bunnies are all gone till next spring.

 

 

Baby Brother Newborn Nursery Session

What could be more natural than newborn nursery photos at home?  Big brothers have enough to contend with when a new baby turns up on the scene.  Better to pose for photos at home in a comfortable and familiar setting.  This little chap took a nap while we photographed his new baby brother and when nap time was over he was ready to get into the act.  I love photographing families in their own personal space.

Beach Christmas Card

I'd love to get a sweet Christmas Card like this in the mail from one of my friends.  These children are so cute.  I love photographing their family at Christmas each year.  What a great way to chronicle how your children grow and change.  You can get a real feel for their playful personalities with this Christmas card.

Photo Christmas Cards

Yahoo ! The Hoag family is ahead of the curve this year.  They have their custom Christmas Cards already ordered.  We'll start up this week with Mini sessions and Christmas Card portrait sessions but this was our first official completed card.  What do you think?  The week after Halloween is when the phone starts to ring from clients who we photographed during 2013 - ready to order their holiday cards.  If you don't have a plan for Christmas cards - give us a call we have lots of fun ideas.

Newborn Nursery Photo Shoot

I absolutely love this newborn nursery session.  What a precious little baby girl and her nursery was soo much fun to photograph in.  Mom and Dad were so creative and fun to work with.  Our studio produced a beautiful baby album from this session - a perfect memory book from her first days of life.  Lily will cherish these tender photos with her parents forever.  I encourage new parents to get in the act.  Make sure they have photos taken with their newborns.  Can you image?  I don't have many photos of me with my Mom and none from when I was a baby.  It may seem silly but it's especially important with child number two or three since siblings will likely be in most of their family photographs in the future.
